Durga Kami is a Nepalese grandfather who brushes his bushy white beard, puts on his school uniform and puts on his school uniform with help of his walking stick. During a driving trip he was prevented from studying because of poverty and also his goal of becoming a tutor.


The father of 6 and grand father of 8 now at age of 68 goes to college six days a week to complete his studies. He even escapes a lonely home life sticking to the death of his wife. For him walking into the Shree Kala Bhairab higher secondary school and the buzz created by 200 children is kind of a welcome contrast on the hush of the isolated one-room property or home. The house has leaking roof and frequent power cuts. Kami livs in Syangja district, some 250 km (155 miles) west of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.
Kami is one of the several oldest students in Nepal and he said, ‘To forget my sorrows The year progresses to school. ‘ He studies your classroom with 14 to 15 year olds’.
